Ice Cream!

Connor loves to make new things. He loves to hear people’s ideas and try to see how he can work with them to make them new and exciting. Recently though he went for a classic. He made home-made ice cream!

Have you ever made home-made ice cream before? It’s a lot more labor intensive than I realized!

So to make the base he had to make a custard. To do this you heat up milk, heavy cream, and sugar. Bring it all to a boil then remove from heat. In a separate bowl take egg yolks and then add a little bit of the hot mix to it and avoid scrambling. Add it until you have almost half the mix in with the eggs. You want avoid curdling the eggs. Add the entire egg mix back in with the rest and warm it up enough to thicken it to the point that it coats the back of a wooden spoon. Allow to cool at least 4 hours. Or overnight. Then put it in the ice cream maker for a half hour.

He even worked Marionberries into it! He added these in after the ice cream was done churning with a spoon!
